Cool Hand Luke.
I forgot how it went part way through :S
I’ve got a week home alone to myself. My parent’s went on vacation, and this just happens to line up perfectly with the time most of my friends decided to go away as well, so I’m literally stuck alone. This is what I’ve got in the line up for the week (which will most likely last me two or three days at most).

I already watched (yesterday) Chloe (2009), Mutiny on the Bounty (1935) and Spartacus (1960) — Shit, Spartacus is a long movie! I was lucky enough to watch it on TCM though, no commercials. Then I watched The Sunset Limited, which was very interesting and well acted by Samuel L. Jackson and Tommy Lee Jones.
… Now I’m off to watch Lawrence of Arabia.
@1 year ago with 5 notesIt’s a wonderful feeling sometimes, to have nothing to do.After coming out of a long year of school, being downtown everyday surrounded by the constant motion that takes place there — watching people go from one place to another, never stopping to look at what is around them, wherever they are — it is a much needed, and appreciated change of pace. Everyone would jump from one class, one task, to another; they wouldn’t take time between, even though they had it. I would see people go from one class, and a soon as it’s over they’re minds would already be in the next class, even as they walked down the street — they wouldn’t really be there, walking down the street, or through the park, looking at the things and people that were around them, they’d already be on the next pass. I learned to look at people and what was around me — you know, actually looking at their faces while I passed by, instead of being caught up in my own head.
It’s a wonderful feeling when you have an entire day to just sit in fresh air, taking it in, (playing guitar or listening to [folk]music) just sitting in the moment with nothing to do. When busyness is dead and you don’t let yourself become a victim to worry you’ll find that you can breathe; that the moment is wholly yours to appreciate. It is a really satisfying change of pace to the constant movement and noise that you can find everywhere.

It was time, I felt, to watch Cool Hand Luke… again. It remains still one of my favourite movies. That considered, I really have nothing to say about it right now, because I’ve said it all before.
Oh, by the way, Paul Newman is awesome!

In the evening I watched Casino Royale again, and confirmed my feelings of just how great a Bond Daniel Craig is at the role. This is one of my personal favourite Bond films because of how real it feels and how it’s done away with all the comic-booky over the top action and gadgets. This one is different, it’s believable and serious and rough. Bond feels like a real person; he’s vulnerable but tough. When he gets hit, you believe it; and he bleeds. It really feels like he can be killed, rather than an predictably indestructible action hero. I really like that there aren’t any scenes where he fights off near endless hoards of enemies, or survives impossible amounts of bullets (fired by impossibly incompetent guards).
… Now I’m back in the eating cereal, watching late night talk shows and surfing the net stage… Better suggestions are welcome. :)
